This year’s color charity run was organised to raise funds for sanitary pads for all school-going girls in Kamuli district.

Looking at the various challenges that girls in rural areas face, the speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga in collaboration with Chinese mobile phone manufacturer, Tecno Mobile, launched the annual Heroes in color run.

During the launch at Kyadondo rugby grounds in Kampala the speaker applauded the initiative and assured continued support  to the entities behind such life changing initiatives.

This year's color charity run was organised to raise funds for sanitary pads for all school-going girls in Kamuli district.

"Being the Woman Member of Parliament for Kamuli district, I feel delighted and happy that many girls are going to benefit greatly from this charity group. So many girls out their drop out of school because they can't cope with challenges of managing their periods because of lack of sanitary pads.

This is going to benefit them and I hope Ugandans benefit from these initiatives next year in various ways," Kadaga said.

After her speech, the speaker flagged off the runners and participators in the run. The runners who were over 500, did a mini marathon of 2km from Kyadondo and back.

Revelers at the event had to pay sh20,000 to access the grounds and this money was used to buy  sanitary pads.

After the race, revelers began playing and covering each other in color and in a few hours, Kyadondo was marred with all shades of color.
