KAMPALA - Nkumba University Volleyball Club (NUVC) ladies team setter Eunice Niwabigaba strengthened her claim to be considered the game maker on Wednesday as she led her team to a win in Game one of the Aziz Daman National Volleyball League Playoff final against Ndejje Elites at Lugogo.

A despaired Nkumba who were without their first setter Doreen Akiteng had to rely on their second setter Niwabigaba after a hard fought first set win (25-21).

Niwabigaba raised her side in the second and third sets performing well in covering and setting for her outside attackers and power hitters who converted their balls and made an easy win passed the Luwero side.

Habiba Namala, Astreede Agaaba and Grace Akiror led the attacking force to sink Ndejje's star players Shamim Nalukabwe, Veronica Aanyu and Jesca Kaidu.

Akiteng who is currently nursing her ankle vowed to play Game two of the final saying that she has always enjoyed playing against Ndejje.

"I enjoy playing against Ndejje and the fact that we lost to them during the NSSF Kampala Armature Volleyball Club Open tournament final in August, I hope to be fine by Saturday to play them and confirm our worth," Akiteng vowed.

Meanwhile, in the men's' category, Nemostars VC humbled Uganda Christian University (UCU) VC men in a thrilling final that ended 3-0 led by their captain George Aporu.
