KAMPALA - It is quite hard to imagine the annual season of local basketball without the fun-filled Friday Night Lights Basketball campaign. After seven editions it is certainly a case of so far so good.

The eighth edition which starts Friday at Panamera is uniquely placed to further bridge the gap between entertainment and the game of basketball.

In a special change of approach this time the game is literally taken to the fans as opposed to fans going to the game.

"We have grown over the years and I want to assure that it keeps getting better. This version of he game emphasizes the fact that sport and entertainment are inter-related" said Tom Ochamuringa FNL managing director.

The event was launched on Thursday at the Panamera bar in bukoto.

To make it more appealing especially to the fans, the 3 on 3 format has been introduced as the main version for the competitive element with more fan activations lined up.

Despite the fun FNL is a season curtain raiser that as well helps players shape up ahead of the main season.

With more partners on board; Roke Telecom and NXT Radio there is belief that the Tusker Lite sponsored event is growing in significance.

"It is such a big deal for us to continue creating memories with basketball fans who are also ourcustomers. Fans should expect special competitions designed specifically for them with lots of give-aways" said Cathy Tumwesigye brand manager Premium Beer.

Meanwhile, ten teams that include Madol, Josh Johnson, Flirsh, Wazee, Zama, Fahmy, Soro, Kikiri and Ikong will battle for honours.
