Former handball league champions Police are out of the national league following their failure to honour more than three fixtures.
This has given rivals Ndejje University the opportunity to successfully defend their title with little sweat.
"We know how strong the remaining teams that include UPDF and Mukono Lions are, but the exit of Prisons has given us the trophy," Mukunzi said.
Meanwhile, Makerere University put up a good performance but lost 31-26 to defending champions Ndejje University who are targeting a title defence in the men's category.
The tightly contested game saw Jonathan Atandu score eight goals for Ndejje, while Ismail Kisalita managed seven goals for Makerere.
Ndejje University team captain Felix Mukunzi said the win increased their chances of defending the men's title and will just need to win one out of the three remaining games.
In the other men's results, Kyengeza lost 33-23 to UPDF, Ndejje defeated Evergreen 33-29, while Prisons did not show up for their fixtures against Ndejje, Nkajja and Evergreen.
In the women's category, Makerere lost 38-10 to UPDF, 10-0 to Ndejje while Nkajja thumped Kyengeza 72-11.
The league continues on Saturday and Sunday in Ndejje, Bombo and Namboole playgrounds.
