The UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has said there should be inclusive development for all the people.

In a statement read for him by Achim Steiner, the Under-Secretary-General of the UN and Vice-Chair of the UN Sustainable Development Group he said China's experience of lifting millions out of poverty can provide valuable lessons for the rest of the world.

He said as the world works towards achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals Agenda, there is need to ensure that no child will be born in poverty and that everyone should have a chance to thrive.

The remarks were made on Thursday at the opening ceremony of the International Forum on Reform and Opening Up and Poverty Reduction in China, in Beijing.

Meanwhile, Xie Fuzhan, the President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences said the eradication of poverty is a shared mission, which should be embraced by all countries in the world. He said unilateralism and protectionism go against the grain of Poverty alleviation.

He said while China is set to end absolute Poverty by 2020, comparative Poverty will continue to exist for a while. He added that some people slide back into Poverty for various reasons including disease and disability and that there was need to find targeted measures to help them.
