Emergency works at Kyengera along Kampala—Masaka road

The scope of work will include replacement of the damaged culvert crossing, desilting of the drainage channels and patching of the road shoulders.

ROAD WORKS
 
Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) informs the general public and the users of the Kampala—Masaka road that the road will temporarily be closed at Kyengera, 2.6 Kilometres from Busega junction on Wednesday 31st October 2018. 
 
The road will be closed from 02:00pm to allow execution of emergency repairs on this section in the shortest time possible. 
 
The scope of work will include replacement of the damaged culvert crossing, desilting of the drainage channels and patching of the road shoulders. 
 
The works are intended to keep the road motorable and to ensure safety of all road users. 
 
 
The following diversions will be available to traffic;
1. Traffic from Kampala Side
• Kyengera - Mugongo - Kasenge - Buddo - Kisozi - Kitemu(11.4Km)
• Nateete - Kasenge - Buddo - Kisozi - Kitemu (11.5km) 
 
Traffic from Masaka Side
• Nsangi through Buloba (4.4Km) for heavy trucks coming from Masaka side
• Nabbingo bypass to Kyengera (2.5Km) for light vehicles
 
Normal traffic flow is expected to be restored in 48 hours. 
 
"We apologize for any inconvenience caused and request for your patience as we work around the clock to restore the affected section of the road," UNRA.
