Bishop Luwalira calls for responsible parenting

Luwalira blamed some parents and guardians who he said remained aloof as their children got lured from the Church.

The Bishop of Namirembe Diocese, the Rt Rev Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira has asked parents to take keen interest in the moral and spiritual development of their children.

Luwalira blamed some parents and guardians who he said remained aloof as their children got lured from the Church.

He reminded the parents that it is their God-given responsibility to give Christian instructions to their children and make them understand the covenant relationship that they entered into with God when they took them to Church for Baptism.

Bishop Luwalira was delivering his homily during the Holy Communion Confirmation Service at at Good Times Infant School, Kawaala (in Rubaga Division) on Friday (October 19).

During the function, Bishop Luwalira confirmed 94 pupils and also dedicates 183 Primary Seven candidates. Luwalira asked the confirmants to accept Jesus as their personal Lord and savior. He also asked the Primary Seven candidates to shun all forms of examination malpractices.

"Do not panic. Work hard and stay focused. Have faith in Jesus and you will attain your desired victory," Luwalira said.

The Director of the school, Ronald Mpagi thanked God for the blessings that the school has attained during the 26 years of its existence. "When we were starting in 1992, we had laughable structures. Today we have storied buildings," he said.

The guests were greatly impressed by the school's mass choir, which exhibited amazing choral skills during the service.

Anne Pretty Nanfuka, a Primary Seven pupil who won the Uganda Communications Commission essay writing competition (Central Region) and Cetera Miti (Primary Seven), the first runner up, were also introduced and recognised with accolades.
