Shafik Batambuze joins Gor Mahia

Batambuze who was free agent after leaving Tanzanian side Singida United, will fill the gap left by Godfrey Walusimbi who joined South African side Kaizer Chiefs.

Kenyan giants Gor Mahia have signed Uganda Cranes left back Shafik Batambuze on a two year deal.

"Shafik Batambuze has today penned a two year contract with the reigning champions Gor mahia FC in readiness for the forthcoming CAF CL and the 2019 Kenya Premier League," the club said on its website.

Batambuze who was free agent after leaving Tanzanian side Singida United, will fill the gap left by Godfrey Walusimbi who joined South African side Kaizer Chiefs.

The former Tusker player also joins Aucho Khalid, Daniel Sserunkuma, Israel Emuge, Walusimbi and Ivan Anguyo as the other Ugandan footballers who have featured for Gor Mahia.

Batambuze who has not enough playing time with the national team was part of the Uganda Cranes squad that represented the country in the 2017 AFCON finals in Gabon.

He was one the best performancers at the recent concluded FUFA Drum competition when he played for Busoga Province.
