Judiciary transfers 46 judicial officers

The judiciary has transferred 19 magistrates serving in various stations across the country.

The transfers which affected mostly those magistrates who have been serving upcountry will take effect from November1.              

Chief registrar Esta Nambayo, in circular dated October 5, said most of the magistrates were scheduled for transfers adding that others have been transferred from less busy to busy stations with lots of cases.

The office of the registrar also transferred deputy and assistant registrars to take up new assignments.

Deputy registrars Rosemary Bareebe has been transferred from Lira to Gulu Court. Moses Gabriel Angualia was moved from Mbarara Court to Judicial Training Institute and Godfrey Kaweesa has been transferred from Judicial Training Institute (JTI) to (JTI) research in Kampala.

Assistant registrar, Thaddeus Opesen has been transferred from Gulu to Lira High Court.

"The judicial officers who have been in the system shall move to new stations on November 1, whereas the newly deployed officers have to move with immediate effect.

"Most of the judicial officers are transferred from one place to another based on the workload assessments of one station compared to the other,"Nambayo said.

She noted that a judicial officer should be able to work in any part of the country.

New deployment

A total of 16 Grade One magistrates who were recently appointed by the Judicial Service Commission have been deployed to different courts and their deployments will take immediate effect.

Grade II Magistrate Richard Kamba has been moved from his current work station in Makindye to Mpigi.

Catherine Baguma has been transferred from Mpigi to Makindye.
