Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira, the Bishop of Namirembe diocese has  told students to be wary of false prophets who claim to perform miracles.

Luwalira sounded the warning on Thursday during the confirmation of 33 students at Atlas High School in Gayaza, Wakiso district. He prayed for students to strengthen and affirm their Anglican faith, as they renewed their baptism vows.

"These people are always smart and speak strange languages that are very uncommon and they call it speaking in tongues and lure the youth who do not know what to do, to ungodly fellowships," he said.

He said most young people fall into traps that are difficult to disentangle because they wholly believe what the false prophets say.

The Bishop recounted the story of a woman who was tagged ‘barren' and how a so-called witch doctor had sex with her in her quest for a child.

"How can you go to a witchdoctor who is wearing bathroom slippers to look for money? Don't you think there is a problem"?

He urged the teachers and students to emulate Biblical characters like Noah and Abraham who made covenants with God for the good of the people. "Take note of the initiators of the covenants and look at its impact and consequences".

He advised the teachers to impart skills and knowledge to enable students become responsible citizens in future.

"In Uganda, do whatever it takes to make sure the students are prepared to serve as responsible citizens".

Luwalira advised the candidates preparing for ‘A and O' level examinations to remain focused.

"Why are you anxious when you have been subjected to tests? If you have been serious in class, God shall bless the work of your hands," he said.

He noted that in different fellowships, students are told not to study, saying God will do everything, which he said is wrong. "You need to do your part and God will help you excel".

Luwalira implored parents to always have time for their families for cohesion.

Bernard Sserunjogi, the chairman of the board of directors for the school, revealed that for the 11 years of the school existence, discipline and Godliness has been emphasised.

"We enforce discipline in students on and off the school campus," he said.

He revealed that they had already secured a 50-acre piece of land in Mpigi district, where they are planning to build another school. "We do not want to only own the schools but we want to leave a legacy in the community"

Sserunjogi advised students not to be lured into sexual relationships at this stage of learning, saying it would be catastrophic.

"This is your opportunity to study because soon, you will be out but how you conduct your life will depend on the time you spent at school to become a capable and able ambassador".

He added: "The days are evil. You know what you want to achieve in life so remain focused".

The school chaplain Dunstan Kiwanuka, advised students to be resilient, hardworking and co-operative if they are to prosper in life.
