Kyakonye vows to knockout Zambia's Mulowayi

Ugandan prize fighter Willy ‘Ring Tiger' Kyakonye has promised Zambia's Jack Mulowayi a knockout as he seeks to assert himself in Rotterdam, Netherlands on Thursday.

The fight organised by Lions Only Promotion offers Kyakonye, 24, an opportunity to improve his record of two wins, all of them stunning knockouts in the paid ranks.

"I am happy I have trained so well. I strongly believe I can bring him down by knockout. I don't want to give him any chance," promised the former Africa heavyweight bronze medalist.

Despite facing a 32-year-old superior opponent with four wins, including two knockouts, the Ugandan boxer is unfazed.

"I am not scared. I am a Ghetto boy with a lot of experience," he said.

Kyakonye has been loading punching power and skills for the past one month under the tutelage of coached Sjef Weber in preparation for what, he said, is his dream fight.

This will be the third fight for the former Ugandan national boxer since he moved to Netherlands in 2016. The towering pugilist who is blessed with a long arm reach beat Gino de Fonseca in his first fight on Sweden soil in 2017 before taming Ismael Alintintas later.

Kakonkye is the only lucky Ugandan boxers who featured in the AIBA World Series in Venezuela in 2014.

He is one of the five national boxers who remained in Netherlands enroute to the AIBA World Championship.

"I feel great because I am now settled here. Back at home, I had social issues which disturbed me. With better facilities here, I believe I can make a mark," he said on phone.
