TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR DEVELOPING HUB TOOL KITS FOR EAST AFRICA YOUTH INCLUSION PROGRAM

1.0 Introduction 

Heifer Project International is a non-profit corporation based in Little Rock, USA. Established in 1944, it is currently operational in over 30 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America. Heifer's mission is to work with communities to end hunger and poverty and to care for the earth. Heifer believes that it can significantly contribute to feeding the world and securing sustainable livelihoods by enhancing the capacity of vulnerable and smallholder farmers. This, accompanied by strong social capital and women's empowermenl, will have multiplier effects and result in sustainable reduction in world hunger and poverty while caring for the earth. 

2.0 Background 

Heifer is implementing the East Africa Youth Inclusion Program (EAYIP) in partnership with Youth Alive, a five-year program aimed at improving the livelihoods of 25,000 economically disadvantaged young people in Tanzania and Uganda. EAYIP is working with youth in the age range of 15- 24 years who have organized into Self Help Groups (SHGs) and receive training through the groups as per cohorts of 15- 18 and 19-24.
