Crested Cranes start COSAFA preparations

Uganda will be the third East African country to feature in the Cosafa Women’s Championship after Tanzania in 2011 and Kenya in 2017.

The national women football team head coach Faridah Bulega has summoned a squad of 23 players to start preparations for the COSAFA Women Championship.

The Crested Cranes and west African giants Cameroon are the two guest teams that will feature in the football event that will run from September, 12 to 22 in South Africa.

The summoned squad entered camp in Njeru at the the FUFA Technical Centre. However, the team will be trimmed to 20 players before they depart for South Africa.

Uganda is drawn in Group C with Swaziland, Namibia and Zimbabwe. Hosts South Africa will compete in Group A together with Botswana, Madagascar and Malawi, while Group B will be comprised of Zambia,Cameroon,Lesotho and Mozambique.
