Bus collides with trailer on Masaka highway

Ntambi died on the spot while five passengers sustained broken legs, limbs. Moses Rukanda, one of the survivors in the bus, noted that the truck was at high speed.

 At least one person on Wednesday evening died on the spot in following a fatal accident at Mbiriizi town.

Six others were rushed to Masaka Regional Referral Hospital in critical condition.

The deceased has been identified as John Ntambi, a resident of Mukoko village -Masaka. The incident occurred at 5:00pm involving a truck, trailer and a bus.

Eyewitnesses said Ntambi, the driver of the truck Reg. no. UBA 571E, tried to overtake another trailer Reg. no. KBY2094M destined for Rwanda.

 


In the process, Ntambi's truck collided head on with a Malaika-owned bus Reg. no. UBB 992L that was heading to Kampala.

Lameck Kigozi, the Masaka regional police spokesperson, cautioned drivers and other road users to always be careful to avoid similar incidents.
