KAMPALA - The National Council of Sports (NCS) Vice Chairman Technical Zubair Galiwango has urged boxers to front discipline if they are to scoop more medals.

Speaking at the sendoff of the three bombers who will represent Uganda at the 2018 Youth Boxing World Championships in Hungary on Saturday at Lugogo in Kampala, Galiwango said that most of the sports men and women have failed to keep at the peak due to indiscipline.

A contingent of six will represent Uganda for their first time in the world youth event after qualifying at the continent level in the Africa Youth Championships that took place in April in Morocco.

"We have always had challenges when it comes to athletes who vanish at international events but all this is due to indiscipline, I therefore ask these young ones to front discipline and listen to their coaches and parents," said Galiwango.

John Odoch who lost at the quarterfinal stage of the Africa Men and Women Youth Boxing Championships was cleared by AIBA to join Reagan Musoke and Muhammad Mazida who won silver and bronze medals respectively in the same tournament.

On the men's side, a total of 244 boxers will kick off the race to the Youth World title, including 233 coming from the qualification process six quotas reserved for the host country and five Universality places.

A total of 174 Youth Women's entries to World Championships will be available for all the boxers who have competed in their respective Continental Championships.
