She rubbished reports that indicated she was not ready to leave the position
The former Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Winnie Kiiza, has assured her predecessor Betty Aol Ochan of her full support during her reign.
While speaking on the floor of Parliament on Wednesday as she ended her tenure, Kiiza expressed appreciation for MPs for their support and good working relationship that enabled her serve in the role.
She noted that her political activities will continue especially in the fight for matters affecting common Ugandans.
"I have played my part. I will continue working for the good of all Ugandans to ensure that democracy and good governance prevails so that they get the service delivery they deserve," Kiiza said.
Regarding the media reports that indicated she was not ready to leave office, Kiiza said it was unfortunate that such claims can be attributed to her because they tarnish her reputation and what she believes in.
"What is said was that I'm waiting for the parliamentary process so that I can handover to my colleague Betty Aol. It is unfortunate and I condemn it in the highest terms possible," Kiiza said.
Kiiza was last week dropped as leader of opposition by FDC party president Patrick Oboi Amuriat.
