Vipers unveil Mexican Javier Martinez as new manager

Martinez is now the third foreign coach to manage Vipers after Da Costa and Nigerian Ambrose Chukuma.

Vipers sports club have unveiled Mexican Javier Martinez as their new coach at St Mary's stadium, Kitende.
Martinez takes over from Portuguese Miguel Da Costa who was fired after winning the league title. Last season Da Costa led Vipers to a third league title and also finished runner-ups in the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
"I want thank coach Da Costa for helping Vipers Sports Club win the title and we salute him and all those who worked with him. I want to thank our scouting and technical team who have worked hard to ensure we get a suitable coach,"club president Lawrence Mulindwa said after unveiling Martinez who signed a two year deal.
Martinez is now the third foreign coach to manage Vipers after Da Costa and Nigerian Ambrose Chukuma.
His exist came after Vipers were eliminated by Kenyan giants Gor Mahia 2-1 in the quarterfinals of the just concluded CECAFA Club Championship.
Club chairman George William Mulindwa and Marketing and Sponsorship Manager,Simon Ssekankya are some of the club officials that attended the event.

Martinez has managed the U-17 team of Cruz Azul Fútbol Club, a top division side in Mexico and Guatemalan football Club Deportivo Carcha. He also played for Cobán Imperial, a Guatemalan football club based in Cobán, Alta Verapaz.
