Traffic at Karuma Bridge blocked for hours

Travellers were left stranded on both sides of Karuma Bridge after a trailer loaded with cement developed mechanical problems and blocked traffic.

The trailer registration no. SSD 128 A/SSD 129 A was transporting cement to South Sudan and completely blocked the road rendering passage impossible.

The incident occurred at about 1:00pm.

UPDF and traffic Police held talks with the management of Sino Hydro Corporation
Ltd who are constructing the Karuma hydro power project, to help remove the truck.

By press time, the truck was yet to be removed so as to free up traffic.
