National Women football team (Crested Cranes) head coach Faridah Bulega says her side is in good shape to compete for the CECAFA Women Challenge Cup that gets underway this Thursday to July 27 in Rwanda.

"The players are in good state. We are just waiting for the time to go to Rwanda and try to deliver to our abilities," Bulega said.

Crested Cranes who are currently camping at FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru are expected to travel to Rwanda on Tuesday.

The Challenge Cup will be played in a league format to determine the eventual champion.

The third edition of the CECAFA Women Championship was supposed to be hosted in May this year, but the organisers decided to be postponed it to July.

Hosts Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia confirmed their participation for the 2018 tourney.

Tanzania remain the defending champions of the event that was last held in Uganda (2016) at FUFA Technical Centre,Njeru. They beat rivals Kenya 2-1 to win the championship, while Crested Cranes finished fourth.
