MUKONO - The National Volleyball League defending champions, Nemo stars volleyball club registered their first two wins in the league.

Nemo beat Nkumba University VC (men) and Vision VC (VVC) over the weekend at Uganda Christian University (UCU) in Mukono.

Nemo men beat Vision Volleyball Camp (VVC) in their league opener before facing a challenging fight from Matrix volleyball club in their second league game that stretched them to a decisive set before the game was called off due to poor lighting.

Nemo crowned their weekend with a win against a less experienced Nkumba.

Nkumba's key players, Ronald Odyek and Brian Atuhaire could not contain Nemo's experienced attack line headed by George Aporu.

The champions were consistent with their skipper, Aporu who converted most of their back court attacks that gave them a lead of (25-22, 22-25, 27-29, 18-25) against Nkumba.

Sport-S, Nkumba, Nemo, UCU, KAVC and Ndejje lead the Series 'A' men's table with 6 points each.

However, Nkumba's game against KAVC and Nemo v Matrix were postponed to a later date due to poor lighting.

Meanwhile, Ndejje, UCU and Sport-s women's teams continued to clinch the top of Serie A of the women's table after winning their games over the weekend.

Nkumba ladies games against Nemo and KAVC were postponed following the recent All Africa University Games where Nkumba had represented Uganda. The team scooped gold at the contest.
