RUKUNGIRI - Two UPDF soldiers were critically injured in a grenade attack in Rwenshama, Rukungiri district on Thursday.
The injured soldiers, who are yet to be named, were part of a unit deployed to patrol Lake Edward.
UPDF spokesman Brig. Richard Karemire confirmed that the attack was carried out by "some gunmen who hurled a grenade onto our patrol boat".
"We have since intensified the patrols as we hunt down the attackers," he said.
Rwenshama is a fishing village a few miles from the DR Congo border and is about 60km from Rukungiri Municipality in the western part of the country.
