KISORO - Police in Kisoro district have recovered an abandoned Sub-machine gun riffle suspected to belong to a local private security firm.
The Kigezi Police Spokesperson told New Vision that the gun numbered SAR NO.UG POL K425455-105348 was recovered at Nyamushungwa village, Mabungo parish, Nyarusiza Sub County in Kisoro district.
He said the gun belonging to RPS, a security company was was found abandoned in the grass by the roadside.
"The gun had one live bullet in the chamber and three bullets not accounted for. RPS supervisor had reported the disappearance of his one staff Nsenjiyunva Robert," Matte said, adding that the suspect, Nsenjiyunva is on the run as inquiries go on.

In a related development, Police in Kisoro on Wednesday afternoon recovered an abandoned gun in Nyamwirima village Kisoro municipality.
The recovered gun is said to have been forcefully taken from a security guard who was guarding Mubuga SACCOS in Nyakinama sub-county, Kisoro district recently, when thugs broke into the premises.
"The riffle s/no UG PSO 8000069-04489 short gun with an empty magazine was taken from a security guard identified as Clever Habomugisha at Mabuga SACCO during an aggravated robbery on May 30, 2018 vide ref CRB 512/2018. It was recovered in front of an unfinished building."
