Cranes face hosts Niger in a friendly ahead of the AFCON qualifiers

Despite going down 1-0 to Central African Republic (CAR) in a friendly match yesterday in Niger, Uganda Cranes' head coach Sebastian Desabre was impressed with the performances from his players.
 
"We played and fought well during the match. I saw the effort of a fighting spirit from all the players. Unfortunately, it was just one mistake that cost us.
 
"We shall plan ahead for the next match and we have to improve,"stated Desabre.
 
Ralph Kottoy scored the lone goal for Central African Republic towards the end of  first half.
 
Cranes will now face hosts Niger on Saturday in the final game of the training camp.
 
The two friendly matches will be preparing the Cranes for the 2019 AFCON Qualifier with Tanzania on September 7th at Namboole. Cranes who are placed in Group L with Tanzania, Lesotho and Cape Verde top the group with three points.
 
Midfielder  Moses Opondo who features for Vendsyssel in Denmark is the new player on the national team and is likely to make his debut for Cranes against Niger.
