ACCIDENT
 
KIRYANDONGO - Erute South Member of Parliament, Charles Gutomoi, who was involved in an accident near Karuma Dam on Tuesday night sustained a fractured leg and injured rib.
 
He is currently admitted at Mulago National Referral hospital.
 
The accident took place when Gutomoi was driving to Kampala in his Toyota Noah vehicle when he collided with a trailer which was heading to Gulu.
 
redSpeaking from his hospital bed at the hospital's emergency and accident ward he said he is feeling pain around the ribs and in the fractu leg.
 
"My other parts of the body are fine only that I feel pain in the injured parts of the body,'' he said. "According to  the X-ray results the ribs were not broken."
 
The health workers on the ward who preferred anonymity said the Mp is in stable condition.
 
By the time of the accident, the Mp was alone in the car.
 
His son, Israel Okocha said immediately after the accident, his father was rushed to Kiryandongo hospital by Good Samaritans but since the facility had no drugs and equipment, he was referred to Mulago for specialised care.
 
"My father said the trailer driver beamed full lights that destructed him and ended up having a head-on collision.
 
The driver of the trailer took off and abandoned the truck leaving him helpless.
 
Gutomoi was rescued by passsangers in a bus that was going to Lira. On realising that there was an accident, the bus driver stopped and some passanger got out and helped pull out the minister from his crashed car to rash him to Kiryandongo hospital.
 
On Friday last week a Gaagaa bus registration number UAK 5621, was involved in an accident with a cargo lorry registration number UAT 088J/UAT 321M and a tractor registration number  UAU 872M.
 
The bus that was travelling from Lira district to Kampala, when it rammed into a tractor before rolling and colliding with an oncoming cargo lorry transporting crates of beer.
 
The accident which left many injured, happened at Nanda Village, some 12km from Karuma township in Nyamasha parish, Mutunda sub county, Kiryandongo district.
