During the three days of mourning, all flags on public buildings will flay at half mast.

The Government will also contribute sh3m per person to those who were seriously injured in the accident and are undergoing treatment.

In the statement, an appeal was made to motorists to drive carefully and passengers were urged to prevail over errant drivers even in the absence of traffic Police.

"The traffic Police must step up vigilance on the roads, especially ensuring that vehicles that are not roadworthy are not on the roads. Speed limits must also be observed," the statement read.
