SC Villa is ready to put to an end Viper's chances of winning a double this season says skipper Bernard Muwanga.

The two sides face-off in the first leg of the Stanbic Uganda Cup this Sunday at  Mutesa II Stadium Wankulukuku.

"This is the only hope we have to win a trophy this season. We have lost to Vipers twice this season and I believe we need to put an end to this," stated Muwanga.

Vipers will have no excuses ahead of the game since their three players(Milton Karisa, Nicholas Wadada and Taddeo Lwanga ) who had earlier been summoned on the national team will feature for them before they travel to Niger for the international friendlies.

Even better for them, the FUFA Competitions committee has also postponed the return leg for the two sides from May 30 to June 5 to cater for the three players.

But, for KCCA  they will have to play Synergy (home and way)  in the second semifinals  without  goalkeeper Charles Lukwago, defender Timothy Awany and Mohammad Shaban  who also travel with the Cranes on Sunday.

Holders KCCA will travel to Masaka for the first leg on May 28 and three days later they host the return leg at Startimes stadium,Lugogo.

This comes at a time when Stanbic Bank injected sh300m as the 2017/2018 Uganda Cup sponsors.

With the sponsorship prize money raised to sh90m, the winner of the event will walk away with sh30m, runners up sh20m, semifinalists sh10m each while the quarterfinalists will each receive sh5m.

This year's final will be hosted in Kumi Municipality on May 27. FUFA is yet to confirm the final venue after inspecting Boma play-ground, Kumi Technical School and Bishop Maraka College fields.

Winners of the Stanbic Uganda Cup will represent the country in the CAF Confederation Cup.
