23 named ahead of the Elgon Cup

The 23-man squad named is part of the 40-team squad that are lined up for the Gold Cup campaign which is also the World Cup qualifier.

Rugby Cranes coaches John Duncan, together with his deputy, Robert Sseguya on Wednesday named 23 players to face Kenya in the first round of the Elgon Cup at Legends Rugby Club on Saturday.
 
Duncan and Sseguya believe that they named the best team that will give Uganda good results over Kenya in highly billed encounter.
 
"We have named a team of young and talented players not because we do not value the Elgon but we want to give them enough playing time for exposure ahead of the big task which is the Gold Cup campaign," Duncan said.
 
"We have been sacrificing to achieve our dream of making it to the world cup and we have to give our players the best preparations for that campaign," Duncan added.
 
He added thatthe 23-man squad named is part of the 40-team squad that are lined up for the Gold Cup campaign which doubles as the World Cup qualifier. 
 
The to be captained by  Asuman Mugerwa deputized by  Justin Kimono include Adrian Kasiito, Simon Olet (lock),Paul Ssekate (Hooker) , Edgar Pajob (Prop), Nathan Bwambale  and Eriphaz Emong, Pius Ogena, Eric Mula, James Odongo, Ivan Magomu, Ivan Kirabo, Aaron Ofwoyrwoth and Justine Kimono (Vice Captain).
 
Others are Saul Kivumbi, Robert Aziku, Byron Oketayot, Brian Asaba, Marvin Odongo, Asuman Mugerwa (Captain),Adrian Kasiito, Philip Wokorach, Musa Muwonge and Adnan Mutebi.
