Who can stop the giants? Damani up and running

 

 

 

 

Whether anyone can stop defending Champions Aziz Damani in the Jazz Safari National Men's League remains an open question but a hard one to figure out.

 

The moneyed giants are enjoying easy pickings as the league continues and there is a temptation that keeps creeping in suggesting the title may not be as open as it was thought to be.

 

This accounts to the fact that some of the big guns settled for a mixed start especially Kutchi Tigers who were tipped to give the strongest challenge.

 

Damani remain unbeaten on 23 points having played just four games, one less than second placed KICC. They remain a well-balanced side and importantly they have maintained a stay-hungry-attitude as they try to redefine Ugandan cricket.

 

On Sunday Riazat Shah struck a brutal half century of 80 from 64 balls enroute to their 95 runs win over a revitalized Ceylon Lions at the Lugogo oval. This was their fourth successive win in this year's league.

 

Meanwhile Steven Wabwose and Ahmd Naseer remain dependable figures for the Challengers who beat debutants by 7 wickets at Kyambogo. The former scored a half century of 72 not out from 67 balls with the latter picking 4 wickets.

 

The result was a redemptive one for Challengers which became their first having lost the opening two games. Challengers are now out of the relegation snare.
