Crested Cranes prepare for CECAFA

The tournament start May 12 to 20 in Rwanda.

Crested Cranes have kicked off their preparations for the CECAFA Women Championship.

The team that is undergoing training sessions at Mandela National stadium, Namboole under the guidance of coach Faridah Bulega, will take part in the tournament starting May 12 to 20 in Rwanda.

The third edition of the CECAFA Women Championship was supposed to be hosted in Rwanda last year, but it was postponed to this month.

Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Sudan, Somalia and Djibouti have confirmed their participation, but Eritrea and South Sudan are yet to confirm their participation for the competition which is funded by FIFA.

Tanzania are the defending champions of the event that was last held in Uganda in 2016 at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.They beat rivals Kenya 2-1 to win the championship, while Crested Cranes finished fourth.

Last month, the Crested Cranes were ejected by Kenya from the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations qualifiers.
