Ugandan shines in Canadian police

CANADA-The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has recruited their first officer of Ugandan descent.

Constable Frederick Mubiru made history when he became the first Canadian of Ugandan decent to join the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).

According to a statement issued by the Uganda High Commission in Canada, RCMP is the federal and national police force of Canada that enforces law and order.

Mubiru’s graduation ceremony that took place in Regina, Saskatchewan on April 9, 2018 was graced by the Deputy Head of Mission in Canada, Margaret Kyogire.

“Mubiru received the Cross Pistol budge after attaining 244 out of 250 score pistol shots and achieved the highest score in Applied Police Science in a class of 25 cadets, “reads the statement.

According to the statement, Mubiru did not only have the highest score, but also took on other responsibilities during the course. He was in charge of liaison of the troop physical training, troop fleet and Chapel Choir programmes.

He was congratulated among others by the Special Presidential Assistant on Diaspora issues Florence Kiremerwa.

“You made the office of the Special Presidential Assistant on Diaspora issues and entire diaspora very proud,” she said.
