James Harris was one of black wrestlers that every Ugandan looked forward to watch on local TV in the 1980's. As youngsters we could get excited watching him as he battered opponents. Ever since, wrestling has evolved and remains one of the biggest attractions on TV for both young and old.

Hulk Hogan, The Undertaker, Shawn Michael, Randy Savage, Stone Cold and Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) are some of the other stars that we often looked forward to watch later on, as they fought and often ‘won' their fights.

There is a disclaimer after every show ‘not to try this at home' as most of the action is brutal and out of this world, but nonetheless we often pick sides, get entangled emotionally and watch on until the end.

Currently WWE stars continue to be watched by millions of television viewers across the world including Uganda following SuperSport's partnership with the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) in a new multi-year agreement to broadcast WWE programming live for the first time in more than 50 countries in sub-Saharan Africa, last year.

SuperSport airs WWE's flagship shows Raw and SmackDown as well as WWE specials, including WrestleMania and SummerSlam.

Uganda last witnessed live wrestling matches in the 90's when they witnessed and got the thrill and to some extent shocks as the WWW stars then hit and twisted their opponents' limbs into all kinds of directions at Nakivubo stadium.
