State minister for sports Charles Bakabulindi has urged national sports federations to submit their budgets and also account for money received in time.

Bakabulindi said in his congratulatory speech on Wednesday at National council of sports to Team Uganda which won six medals in the just concluded Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia. Uganda won three gold, a silver and two bronze medals.

"The government is ready to fund sports, but all national federations must submit their budgets in time, instead of ambushing the government a week to the event. That is not how government works," Bakabulindi said.

He also urged athletes to be disciplined and responsible while conducting their businesses.

"Team managers and coaches cannot manage being on your neck every time, but as an athlete, you must be responsible and disciplined," Bakabulindi said.

He also clarified that only athletes who get medals on the continental and world level stand to benefit from the presidential monthly payments.
