- Gulu passes tough by-law on school feeding

After a countrywide appeal by the Government to have all pupils fed during lunch by their parents yielding less impact in most schools, Gulu district has come up with a new move.

It has barred all non-government organisations from feeding pupils, since it is not sustainable; and now compels to provide meals to their children or be punished.

According to the policy, schools are supposed to have at least 50% of the children eating lunch, under this programme after two years of its roll-out. Headteachers who will fail to implement this to the latter, are subject to disciplinary action under the Public Standing Orders. Find the details in New Vision…
