Commonwealth University confers honorary degree on MP Mbabali

An honorary degree is awarded to elite leaders who demonstrate great character and have proven extraordinary achievements and service to their communities, countries or the world as a mark of esteem.

DUBAI - Haji Muyanja Mbabali, the MP for Bukoto South constituency, has received an honorary doctorate degree from Commonwealth University for his distinguished contributions and achievements in leadership and management.

An honorary degree is awarded to elite leaders who demonstrate great character and have proven extraordinary achievements and service to their communities, countries or the world as a mark of esteem.

At a forum held in Dubai, the Commonwealth University in association with the London Graduate School honoured distinguished professionals and individuals from various walks of life for achievements in leadership and pursuit of excellence.

The conferment on Friday April 6, 2018 of the honorary doctorate degree on Mbabali and 75 other leaders from different countries was part of the Dubai Leaders' Summit.  Four other Ugandans;  Lady Justice  Gladys Nakibuule Kisekka, Mbarara Municipality MP Michael Tusiime, Director East African Civil Aviation Academy (Soroti) Ronald Turyamubona and Ronald Segawa also received honorary degrees.

Mbabali, also a prominent entrepreneur, has over 30 years of experience in finance and investment, both in public and private sectors.

"I am delighted that my humble contribution has been recognised and I pledge to efficiently continue serving my people of Bukoto South and Uganda at large," Mbabali, who travelled to Dubai with his wife, the former minister Mariam Najjemba, told New Vision on Saturday upon his return to Uganda.

The Dubai Leaders' Summit, held twice a year in Dubai, United Arab Emirates as a regular programme of the Commonwealth University in Belize City (CUB) and the London Graduate School, is a forum encouraging a cross-sectionof  leaders from across the globe to embark on practical leadership practices and governance initiatives promoting socio-economic and political welfare of constituents.

The event served as a platform to inspire future leaders, facilitated exchange of ideas and opinions about practical leadership challenges and benchmarked good practices.
