Dolphins Swim Club's Kirabo Namutebi could turn out as the most accomplished Uganda female swimmer ever after making another conquest on new territory over the weekend in South Africa.

Participating in the South Africa Level 3 Regional Age Group swimming championship in Cape Town, April 3-6, on a Ugandan team of eight (7 boys+1 girl), Namutebi left a lasting impression, bagging 6 gold and 1 silver in the three-day championship that attracted 43 clubs from South Africa, Namibia and Uganda.

She pocketed gold in the 50m and 100m breast stroke, 50m free, 50m butterfly, 100m freestyle, and 200 IM and silver in the 200m breast to recap a fantastic inaugural outing at the annual championships.

She had the fastest 50 freestyle time of 28.85 amongst all females in the championship and second fastest time in the 50m fly, a 31:30.

Her mother Hadijah Namanda who doubles as the Uganda Volleyball Federation president was all praises for the 13 year old who in February, collected eight medals (7gold and 1silver) from the Kenya National Age Group Swimming Championship at Kasarani in February.

"She is focused about the swimming process and her goal to better her times. I believe her targets are being met in due course and her efforts being paid off. My plea is for support from all the government and   sports sector and corporate world to help her achieve her dreams," Namanda stated.

The rest of the team members were also outstanding with Darren Ssamula picking silver in the 200IM, 400m free and a bronze in the 200m freestyle races while Ben Kaganda was also good for silver and bronze in the 100m and 50m butterfly.

Tendo Mukalazi was also a bronze medalist in the 50 and 100m breaststroke races while Steve Magera registered personal bests in all his races and a 5th place finish in the 50m fly.

The Dolphins consequently finished 9th overall on 262.5 points with the boys' team clinching 7th place with 163 points and Namutebi solely collecting 99.5 points.
