"The discussion followed the Archbishop's remarks on Good Friday to a congregation at Old Kampala playgrounds and at Rubaga Cathedral that an anonymous caller had said he was masterminding a plot to overthrow the Government. The matters will be discussed and resolved in due course," concluded the statement.

Lwanga, on Good Friday alleged that the Government and its security organs were recruiting the clergy and other religious in his Church to spy on him. He said he had also been warned of a plot to assassinate him like the former Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, the late Janani Luwum.
