Soroti Christians told to be considerate

SOROTI - As Christians converged to various churches to commemorate the triumphant arrival of Jesus Christ in Jerusalem days before he was crucified, Soroti Christians have been advised to live a dignified life.

The sub-dean at St. Peters Cathedral in Soroti, Canon Abraham Eruku, urged Christians to be considerate.

"We are all equal before God, so we should not mistreat others. I call upon you not to relax in praying after fasting because evil has not stopped its mission on earth," he said.

Eruku stressed the need for families to worship together so that they can grow in faith. He encouraged Christians to take advantage of the current rains in Teso to plant fast-maturing crops.

Teso is prone to famine, which has resulted in deaths. "God has blessed us with rain, let us take advantage of it to cultivate," he said.

Christians turned up with their palm leaves that they waved as they worshiped.

Palm Sunday, often referred to as Passion Sunday, also marks the beginning of the Holy Week, which concludes on Easter Sunday.
