KAMPALA- Local council leaders in Makindye division have praised the new deputy Inspector General of Police, Brig. Sabiiti Muzeyi, for maintaining high levels of discipline for the 11 months at the helm of the military Police.

Sabiiti was recently posted to the police force by President Yoweri Museveni. He has been serving as the commandant of the military Police. Its headquarters are in Makindye, a Kampala suburb.

The local council leaders said apart from being humble and co-operative with the civilian community, Sabiiti has exhibited good leadership and ensured discipline within the force.

"We hope that the discipline you have imparted here is also transferred to where you are going (Police) because without disciplined security personnel, our communities are in trouble," Steven Bahatambira, the LC1 chairperson, said.

The leaders made the remarks during a function at which Sabiiti handed over office to Col. William Bainomugisha.

The military Police is a specialised unit of the Uganda People's Defense Force (UPDF) that is meant to enforce discipline among all security organs and armed forces of the country.

The simple but joyous function was presided over by Maj. Gen. Peter Elwelu, the Commander of the land forces.

Sabiiti pledged to continue working with local leaders to develop their ideas on how to enhance the security in Uganda.
