Urban TV's 'Dance Off' Competition launched, dance crews raring to go

“Dance Off” will air Monday to Saturday for 15 minutes at 7pm (highlights show) & on Sunday for 1 hour at 7pm (weekly show).

Urban TV on Monday announced their sponsorship of "Dance Off," a reality TV dance competition produced by Ugandan production house, Kunta Productions. The TV show is set to start airing on the fresh & funky station on April 16, 2018.


The sponsorship worth in excess of sh1b will see dance crews from all over the country tussle it out for a total of sh50m cash prizes, with the winners walking away with a whooping sh30m. The 1st & 2nd runners-up will bag sh15m and 5m respectively.

"There is something for everyone, which hasn't been the case where the winner takes it all," said Urban TV Content Manager, Mrs. Susan Kavuma Ebiau at the launch.

"We have been working on ‘Dance Off' for a very long time so this is something solid we are bringing to our audience who are young, energetic people that we know love this kind of programming & content," said Susan Kavuma, also the Station Manager. "You can expect the best of any dance show you have ever set your eyes on"

Auditions will be carried out over four weekends, starting Saturday April 7, in Gulu for the northern region, Saturday April 14 in Mbarara for the western region, Saturday  April 21 in Mbale for the eastern region & finally Saturday April 28 in Kampala. Physical locations for the respective auditions will be communicated in due course.

Interested dance crews can however start picking registration forms from the Vision Group offices in the different regions, namely Arua One FM in Arua, Radio Rupiny in Gulu, Etop Radio in Soroti, Jengo Newspapers (commonly known as New Vision Newspaper offices) in Mbale, and Radio/ TV West in Mbarara. For those in Kampala, the forms can be picked from the New Vision Head Offices on 3rd Street, Industrial Area.

Registration is free for all and crews are expected to report with their forms for the auditions. No crew will be allowed to audition without a complete filled out form.

Those interested in participating in the competition as individuals and not crews will need to record themselves (phone videos allowed) & post their clips to the Urban Television Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/UrbanTV.ug/); they can also tweet them (https://twitter.com/UrbanTVUganda) with the clip & use the hashtag, #DanceOffUG
