KAMPALA - The Democratic Party (DP) has called on President Yoweri Museveni to intervene into the differences between the Speaker Rebecca Kadaga and lands state minister Persis Namuganza.

The party says Namuganza attacking Kadaga and the Kyabazinga, Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV, was disgraceful to the entire country given the portfolio she holds in the country.

Addressing journalists at the party's weekly press briefing at the party headquarters, the DP's deputy press secretary Fred Mwesigwa said Namuganza must apologise to the nation for her actions or be sacked.

"Her actions are a disgrace to the entire people of Busoga and the nation at large. We all feel ashamed to hear that a whole minister who should be guiding the nation can come out and insult the Speaker and a cultural leader. She is known for being a quarrelsome lady. Even last year she spent most of the time attacking minister for ICT Aida Nantaaba," he noted.

While commissioning a bore hole in Ivukula Sub-county last month, Namuganza reportedly accused Kadaga of having hatched a plot to kill her and urged her people of Bukono Constituency to throw stones at the Kyabazinga and Kadaga if they ever set foot in her constituency.

Mwesigwa said the President should sack Namuganza for her actions to save the image of the Cabinet and the nation at large.

"She is insulting everyone for no big reason. That is why as a party, we support the resolutions by MPs. If no action is taken, we shall see her insulting our President," he noted.
