Women in Uganda have joined their counterparts in the whole world to celebrate the International Women's Day. The ceremony is going on in Mityana
President Yoweri Musevei says men who beat their wives are stupid and do not deserve to be referred to as men.
He says he has lived with his wife, Janet, for almost 50 years, but he has never even pushed her.
He advised men to walk away if they are feeling angry with their wives.
He said this during the cerebrations to mark the International Women's Day in Mityana.
As early as 6:00am, people from around Mityana had started flocking to Busuubizi Core PTC grounds for the function.

The UPDF, Police and Prisons services were on time to stage a wonderful parade. The music from the band added colour to the function.
Participants in the function included religious leaders such as Bishop Stephen Kazimba of Mityana Diocese.
Ministers such as C.Muyingo (higher education), Kiwanda (tourism), Muruli Mukasa (public service) were some of the first to arrive.
Even diplomats attended
The women have a lot to look forward to as they mark their day.
