University Research Co., LLC (URC), a US-based public company working in Uganda since 2005, is implementing the USAID-funded Regional Health Integration to Enhance Services in East Central Uganda Activity (USAID's RHITES EC).
The purpose of this project is to support the implementation of a comprehensive, integrated investment in regional health, HIV/AIDS and nutrition assistance. This five-year activity targets 11 districts in East-Central Uganda with an estimated total population of 4.1 million through a district-based integrated package of quality health, HIV/AIDS, nutrition and child development services.
USAID's RHITES-EC provides technical support to enable implementation of comprehensive integrated health services and systems strengthening within 11 districts. The project's overall goal is to support the EC districts to increase access to and availability of high quality health care services.
One of the obstacles to achieving improved TB Case Notification Rate (CNR) is limited clinical diagnosis of TB due to limited access to supportive screening and diagnostic services like X-ray services. To reduce the burden of missed TB cases in the 11 supported districts, RHITES-EC intends to procure equipment to bridge the access gap to quality radiology services for TB case finding.
