Trainers will focus on schools so as to nurture the talent.

Fencing trainers who completed a two weeks course will focus on schools so as to nurture the talent in the country.

Mubarak Makasi, Jafari Bwambale, Arnold Baluku and Benon Owori disclosed this on Sunday after receiving their certificates from Italian ambassador Domenico Fornara at a function held at Gems Cambridge International School.

"It was a good course. We learnt a lot of new things, skills and tactics required and we shall take it out there to train others, but mostly those in school because they are the future of the sport," Baluku said.

"We shall go to primary schools and secondary schools if we get the equipment needed for young children."

Fornara pledged his government's continued support to Uganda as far as developing the sport is concerned. Italy funded the trainers' course including bringing in an expert Leaudro Giurdauella who has been in the country for a week.

UOC president William Blick said UOC will continue lobby for support for sports from all countries around the world.
