Sport-S beats Vision Volleyball Camp to win Joan Cox championship

Sport-S produced a composed display against Vision Volleyball Camp to come out as 3-0 winners in the final of the club's volleyball at the sixth edition of the Joan Cox tournament in Gayaza on Sunday.

Sport-S defeated KCCA 3-2 in the semifinal, while VVC won 3-0 against the winners of the fifth edition, Ndejje University to set up a mouthwatering final on the second day of the two day tournament.

In the presence of the Uganda Volleyball Federation president, Hadijja Namanda, the school's headmaster, Victoria Kisarale and the school's PTA head, Dr. Evelyn Kigozi Kahigi, the final got off to a competitive start, with a Sport-S winning the first set 25-22.

Despite looking smaller and less experienced of the two, Sport-S  made 25 their lucky number, winning the second and third sets 25-19 and 25-23 to wrap up a 3-0 victory.

The winning side's captain, Yapsoyeko Barbara attributed her side's success to her teammate's encouragement.

 "The competition was tight and we used our services and positioning very well. As players, we kept on encouraging each other." she said.
VVC Captain Namyalo Margaret was on the other hand left pondering the next competition.

"Some of my team players are sick. But we did not expect to lose like that and Sport-S played better, but we will come back stronger next time," she said.

Semifinalists  KCCA and Ndejje University faced off in a third place playoff game which saw the latter winning the set score 3-1 and ensuring a third place finish in the competition.
