The UAF president was on an upcountry tour over the weekend.

Uganda Athletics Federation president Domenec Otucet says that their continuous talent search needs supports from all stakeholders in order to be successful.

Otucet noted that no matter what business one is involved in, they can contribute to the growth of athletics by supporting athletes within their localities.

The UAF president made the remarks during an upcountry tour over the weekend.

He said: "Teso region has a variety of talented athletes that die off due to lack of sufficient support from the public, that's why I encourage people from transport companies such as taxis, buses and motor cycle operators to come on board and give any necessary support."

He says the problems faced by upcoming athletes can be minimised if companies assisted athletes with water, playing kit, balls and modest cash rewards.

In a related development; Christine Akullo, who won gold medals at the 2011 and 2015 All Africa Games in Maputo and Congo Brazzaville, is appealing for support to continue with her athletics career.

"You need to train hard but after training you also have to eat well that is why I appeal to corporate companies to come on board and support athletes," Akullo said.
