The operations on loitering animals in Kyere sub-county Serere district has yielded results, the authorities have said.

Early this month, the sub-county task force and members of the village task force manned by LC1 chairpersons intensified operations to crack down loitering animals.

The move came at the backdrop of a public outcry over the increasing number of loitering animals destroying cassava stems and potato vines that would be used for planting in the forthcoming season.

The operations have since then seen a number of animals in various villages being impounded and the owners fined between sh5000 to sh20,000 depending on the type of the animal impounded.

The LC3 chairperson, John Esadu told Etop radio that as result the number of loitering animas has reduced compared to the past.

Esadu warns that the operation will continue till all livestock farmers learn to tie their animals.
