Husband kills catechist in domestic brawl

Ibanda District Police commmander Micheal Akaturinda said Kabura stabbed his wife in the chest, killing her instantly on Monday night, following a misunderstanding.

IBANDA - Julius Kabura 43, a resident Rwenzigye cell, Irimya parish, Kicuzi sub-county in Ibanda district has been arrested by the Police on allegations of killing his wife, Adrine Kihembo with whom they have six children.

Kihembo (Pictured left) has been a catechist at Irimya Church Nyakashura Parish under Fort Portal Diocese. She had also unsuccessfully contested as Kicuzi sub-county women councillor in the 2016 general elections.
 
Ibanda District Police commmander Micheal Akaturinda said Kabura stabbed his wife in the chest, killing her instantly on Monday night, following a misunderstanding. 

The accused, who had gone into hiding after the incident, told reporters that he regrets having killed the wife.

Ibanda Woman MP Joverine Kaliisa, who attended the burial of the deceased on Wednesday, expressed concern over the increased domestic violence cases in the district, which she said have seen three women lose their lives in a period of less than five months.

The officer in charge of the crime directorate at Ibanda Police Station, Susan Tumugumye, said the accused had pleaded guilty to the murder case and he will appear in court to face the charges under Police case file IBCRB/ 13/2018.
