“Mr DEO, why are my children failing to pass. My boy has repeated P4 four times and the girl has repeated Primary One five times, is this a means of getting money from parents?” he asked.

MAYUGE - A parent in Mayuge district stormed the district education's office (DEO), demanding an explanation concerning the poor performance of his children.

Abdullah Kabalasi Wamala, a resident of Luubu village in Bukatube sub-county, stormed the office of DEO William Nadiope and raised concerns over the poor performance of his two children at Luubu Primary School.

"Mr DEO, why are my children failing to pass. My boy has repeated P4 four times and the girl has repeated Primary One five times, is this a means of getting money from parents?" he asked.

Kabalasi, who was angry, told Nadiope that he does not have money to pay for his children's feeding at school.

"I once paid for their meals at school, but they still performed poorly," Kabalasi said, adding: "I do not know whether the problem is me or teachers."

Kabalasi refused to leave the DEO's boss.

"I cannot leave without an assurance that my children will be promoted to another class in third term," Kabalasi insisted.

However, Nadiope said he would talk to the school headteacher and teachers at the school on the issue.

Nadiope gave Kabalasi sh10,000 as contribution towards children's meals while at school.
