KAMPALA - Allan Okello's late clinical finish from a setpiece was all it took for defending champions KCCA FC to beat SC Villa and close the gap on the table leaders.

KCCA had come into Thursday's clash at the StarTimes Stadium at Lugogo four points behind Villa. Under sweltering temperatues, the home side's Habib Kavuma looked determined to take on opponents Abel Eturude and Musa Mukasa.

An encounter high on intensity saw KCCA's Isaac Kirabira get involved in a number of aerial challenges.

It was a constant battle for the ball as the visitors' Allan Kyambadde vied for the ball with Sadam Juma.

But Juma, one of the most experienced players in the league once swept his challenger, and down on the artificial turf he tumbled . . . in pain. OUCH!

The tackles flew in as much as did the players. Villa's George Senkaaba felt the full force of a challenge as he tried to beat home keeper Charles Lukwago.

And the Villa man needed some medical attention.

Meanwhile, Lukwago made several saves for the hosts . . .

. . . like this spectacular one, where he had to rise highest to punch the ball out of danger during a setpiece.

His opposite, meanwhile, let one effort slip through his safe gloves deep in second half as Okello struck a beautiful free-kick to send the home fans into frenzy.

The youngster's goal was all the Lugogo-based side needed to calm the nerves of the home support as well as help KCCA close the gap between them and Villa to one point. KCCA has a game in hand, by the way, as they were recently away for continental duties.
