All is set for the Harvest Money Expo

ll is set for Uganda's biggest farmer's event; the Harvest Money Expo.

Running for the second time, the expo will be running for three days at Namboole stadium starting tomorrow. The expo has attracted at least 200 exhibitors who have all set up tents at Namboole.

Everything from the exhibitors to the trainers is set and well organized to make the expo a success.

 
Machinery like tractors, planters, irrigation systems and water pumps among others are all at Namboole.

By today afternoon, Namboole stadium was a beehive of activities as exhibitors setup their tents. Trucks would be seen driving in products like seeds, fruit seedlings among others.

Egnsol Engineering Solutions Uganda has already assembled a number of tractors and other farming equipment like 35 horsepower tractors, cassava planters among others.

 
A team from Vision Group led by Hajara Batuuka the marketing manager, is also on the ground to ensure all is well.

Trainers are also testing their presentations to make sure everything moves smoothly tomorrow.

As it was during the first expo in 2017, the entrance fee to the exhibition has been maintained at shs 10,000 and the trainings also at shs 10,000.

Gates to the expo will open at 7am and close at exactly 5pm for the three days.

A number training sessions will tomorrow run concurrently in different rooms by various facilitators as follows:

From 9:00 am to 11:30 am coffee, piggery, markets and financing will be taking place in different training rooms.

In the afternoon 12:00pm to 2:30pm irrigation and water management, bananas, tree planting and farm management.

From 3:00pm to 5:30pm passion fruits, beekeeping, goat keeping and urban farming.

 
When you arrive at Namboole, the main entrance has been reserved for the VIP's whereas the other entrances can be used by the exhibitors and the public.

There will be demonstration on how to use some of the equipment like tractors which can be used to dig holes for farm poles, irrigation system demonstrations and much more.

"Attendees should expect the best seeds, the best agricultural extension knowledge from the experts, and meeting buyers for their products," Joshua Kato, the Harvest Money editor says.

He says it is an event for networking and getting connections between farmers, buyers and sellers of agriculture products.

 
Tractors ranging from small ones of 35horse power are also on display and on market.

There are over 15 irrigation companies, which will exhibit irrigation systems like drip, splash irrigation machines among others.

The Netherland embassy has mobilized over 20 companies and will be having a Dutch village at the expo where one will find farm machinery and equipment.

Some of the Dutch companies that will be at the expo will include those from the dairy sector, horticulture, seed companies, and agricultural machinery among others.

Some of the companies in the Dutch village have flown from the Netherland to come and exhibit.

Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) will also be at hand to advise farmers on issues regarding taxation.

URA will have a customer's tax clinic where they will offer tax education and advisory services.

 
Dr Jolly Kabirizzi, one of the trainers at the Harvest Money Expo notes that the expo is a must attend for every Ugandan who wants to see improvement in the farming sector.

"The expo is well organized and I would like to encourage every Ugandan to come for it because everyone in the farming sector is represented," Kabirizzi says.

Kabirizzi will be training farmers on modern and affordable ways rearing animals. Farmers will have a chance to learn how to keep animals in small piece of land.

The Vision Group Chief Executive Officer, Robert Kabushenga urged farmers to come to the expo and get all their farming questions answered

 
"If you want to know how to control pests in your coffee, how to irrigate your crops, how to do modern farming, learn about taxation and know which equipment you can use in your farm; you need to come to the expo," Kabushenga said earlier.

This year's expo will be running under the theme; From the farm to the market.

The main sponsors of the expo include the ministry of agriculture, Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), dfcu Bank, Davis & Shirtliff, Netherlands Embassy, and Egnsol Engineering Solutions Uganda.
